Competition Training in Santa Clara: Coached by a World Champion

U.S. National Open championship plate won by KIMOO Martial Arts

There is a difference between an instructor who understands competition and one who has stood on the top of a world podium. The first can teach you technique. The second can teach you what happens to technique when the pressure is real.

Coached by a World Cup gold medalist

Grand Master Jong Yeon Hwang took gold at the 10th Wushu World Cup in Milan, Italy, in 2005, and in the same year was appointed Commissioner of Martial Arts Science in the United States.

The academy's record includes titles at the U.S. National Open Championships through the U.S. West Coast Taekwondo Association, and more than 30 championship titles across its history.

What competition training covers

  • Tactical sparring, not just drilling — reading an opponent and controlling distance.
  • Conditioning built for rounds, so technique survives into the third one.
  • Competition psychology. Managing nerves is a trainable skill, and it decides most close matches.
  • Tournament preparation for national and international events.

Why it is by invitation

Competition training is demanding, and putting a student into it before they are ready produces injuries and discouragement rather than medals. Students are invited when their fundamentals, conditioning and temperament are ready.

That usually means starting in the kids, teens or adult program and building from there. Many of our competitors began as complete beginners in a free trial class.

For parents of serious young athletes

If your child has outgrown a recreational program and wants a genuine competitive pathway, this is where that path exists in Santa Clara — supervised by someone who has actually walked it to the top.

Start with a free class

Every competitor here started with a free trial class, and new students receive a free uniform and belt on joining. We will assess readiness honestly and tell you exactly where you stand.

Call (408) 243-1001. Serving Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, San Jose, Cupertino and Campbell.

Train where the standard is real

Great training is not about a flashy facility. It is about who corrects you, how closely they watch, and whether the standard they hold is a real one. At KIMOO you are corrected personally by an 8th Dan Grand Master who trained at the source of the art in 1971 — not by a rotating roster of part-time instructors.

Classes run throughout the week so students can train around school and work schedules. Call (408) 243-1001 and we will find the times that suit you and confirm your free class within one day.
