Women's Self-Defence
Women's Self-Defence in Santa Clara: Walk Anywhere, Fear Nothing

Most women who join our self-defence program in Santa Clara arrive with the same quiet thought: I would not know what to do. Not panic, just an uncomfortable blank space where a plan should be.
This program fills that space.
Taught with respect, not intimidation
Our women's self-defence classes are open to all levels and taught in an environment built on respect. Nobody is shouted at. Nobody is thrown around to prove a point. You will not be made to feel weak in order to sell you a solution.
You are taught by Grand Master Jong Yeon Hwang, 8th Dan, who trained at the Korea Hapkido Headquarters Dojang in 1971 and spent years instructing military police. Hapkido is built precisely for the person who is not the biggest in the room — it uses leverage, angles and the attacker's own force.
What you will actually learn
- Awareness. The skills that end most situations before they begin.
- Escapes. Getting free from grabs, holds and wrist locks.
- Decisive counters. Simple, repeatable techniques that work under stress.
- Confidence. The part students say changes their daily life most.
It works because it is practical
Hapkido is one of the few arts designed around close-range reality rather than sport scoring. The techniques do not require strength, height or athleticism — they require correct angle and correct timing, both of which are trainable.
One of our students put it best: the women's self-defence program should be mandatory for everyone.

Train where the standard is real
Great training is not about a flashy facility. It is about who corrects you, how closely they watch, and whether the standard they hold is a real one. At KIMOO you are corrected personally by an 8th Dan Grand Master who trained at the source of the art in 1971 — not by a rotating roster of part-time instructors.
Classes run throughout the week so students can train around school and work schedules. Call (408) 243-1001 and we will find the times that suit you and confirm your free class within one day.
