Taekwondo
Taekwondo in Santa Clara, Taught by a World Cup Gold Medalist

Taekwondo is the art of powerful, precise, explosive kicking — and an Olympic sport with a belt structure that makes progress visible. It is one of the best first martial arts a child can take, and one of the most demanding fitness disciplines an adult can take on.
In Santa Clara, you can learn it from a world champion.
Gold at the World Cup, in Milan
Grand Master Jong Yeon Hwang took gold at the 10th Wushu World Cup in Milan, Italy, in 2005. That same year he was appointed Commissioner of Martial Arts Science in the United States.
He has also been recognised by the City of Santa Clara as District 2 Business of the Year, and honoured at the White House in 2023 with the President's Volunteer Service Award.
This is not an instructor who read about competition. He won at that level, and he still coaches on the mat personally.
What you will build
- Explosive power and speed through proper kicking mechanics, not just repetition.
- Flexibility and conditioning that carries into every other sport.
- Visible progress through a belt system with standards that are earned.
- Competition pathway for students who want it, prepared by a gold medalist.

Train where the standard is real
Great training is not about a flashy facility. It is about who corrects you, how closely they watch, and whether the standard they hold is a real one. At KIMOO you are corrected personally by an 8th Dan Grand Master who trained at the source of the art in 1971 — not by a rotating roster of part-time instructors.
Classes run throughout the week so students can train around school and work schedules. Call (408) 243-1001 and we will find the times that suit you and confirm your free class within one day.
